Abstract
Intestinal herniations through a 5 mm port-site are rare complications after laparoscopic surgery. A 5-month-old boy showed small bowel obstruction with a small palpable mass under a 5 mm port-site wound and vomited 2 days after laparoscopically assisted abdominal sacroperineal anorectoplasty. Despite performing a conservative treatment, his condition did not improve. Four days after the operation, abdominal ultrasonography revealed a small bowel hernia into the abdominal wall, and hernia repair was performed by emergent operation. It is suggested that exact suturing of the abdominal fascia, including the muscle layer, and postoperative rest are necessary for preventing the occurrence of postoperative port-site hernia.
