We report a case of bowel obstruction by the descending colon with abnormality of fixation. A three-month-old boy was admitted to our hospital because of vomiting. Abdominal CT and enema showed suspected atypical intestinal malrotation. Test laparotomy was performed and it was found that the left side colon was not fixed. In addition, the descending colon had fallen on the right side and the jejunum was bent by the descending colon, which caused the obstruction. A Treitz ligament was formed. We fixed the descending colon to the retroperitoneum. The postoperative course was good and he was discharged on postoperative day 5.
