Background. Bronchoscopic intervention is an important therapeutic option for malignant airway stenosis, but little is known about the effect of repeating palliative PDT. Case. A 76-year-old man with squamous cell carcinoma of left lung (pT3N2M0) underwent pneumonectomy. Thirteen months after the primary surgery, the tumor recurred in the brain and multiple sites of the trachea and bronchus. After whole brain radiotherapy, he underwent multiple sessions of PDT and maintained a good performance status for one year without severe respiratory symptoms. Conclusion. Multiple sessions of PDT may be a palliative treatment option for malignant airway stenosis with poor indications for other therapy.
