The genus Tossinola is recorded for the first time from Japan, with T. ryukyuensis sp. nov. described here on the basis of specimens from Tokuno-shima Island and Okinawa-jima Island, the Ryukyus. This new species can easily be distinguished from other species of the genus by the following features: mesoscutum with a large reddish spot, mesopleuron with two reddish spots, first metasomal tergite with moderately coarse punctures, heptagonal male subgenital plate and relatively short ovipositor.
