Abstract
A checklist of the Chinese species of Cecidomyiidae is provided. The checklist includes 177 valid species belonging to 77 valid genera in four subfamilies recorded from 1900 to 2012, adding 80 species and 31 genera to the world catalog (Gagné, 2010). Seven genera recorded from China as unidentified species are given in the list. One nomen nudum is added and two species are rescued from the list of nomina nuda in the world catalog. This paper includes complete bibliography, domestic distributional records, host plant information for each species and summarized tables indicating the numbers of species and genera. Errors, emendations, and misidentifications for Chinese cecidomyiid genera and species are also mentioned. We also compare cecidomyiid fauna of China with that of Japan.
