Abstract

The aim of this study was to verify the knowledge and skills that mid-level information professionals need to provide and manage documents and information. First, this study examined the “Qualifying Examination for an Information Specialist” administered by INFOSTA and the “Research Data Management Training Tool” created by JPCOAR, and it verified the knowledge and skills required of information professionals. Next, this study compiled that knowledge and those skills as indicated by the relevant entities such as the Council of Science and Technology and library societies, and it examined the positioning of the knowledge and skills that were identified earlier. Results indicated that the Qualifying Examination and the Training Tool examined in this study accorded with that knowledge and those skills. The current study revealed the knowledge and skills that information professionals need to provide and manage documents and information.
