I consider “How to deal with AI (Artificial Intelligence) patent search tools” through the opinions of overseas agents, the current status of test collection evaluation, and examples of its introduction to patent administration. Overseas patent offices have begun to proactively consider the introduction of AI for examination reference searches. On the other hand, there is a belief that “it is the client's responsibility to decide what methods are used to conduct the investigation” in situations such as the investigation of invalid materials, and AI tends to remain an auxiliary method. How should we, as searchers, deal with AI-based research tools in the future? This paper proposes a “perspective” on AI survey tools through examples of cost-effectiveness of implementation, topics related to the evaluation of AI survey tools overseas, and recommendation AI for music distribution services.
