Standardized technology from the perspective of software engineers

Abstract

In academic information distribution systems, it is necessary to mutually share the information resources held by each organization, so standardization of technology is required for efficiency. This paper summarizes the advantages and disadvantages (points to be noted) of incorporating standardized technologies when developing information systems, mainly web services, based on the author’s experience in developing calil.jp, a service for searching library books in Japan.
