Video game research and educations are becoming more active, and the attention is being paid to the aspect of video games as intellectual information resources. To preserve the huge number of video games distributed, and to manage and operate them as research materials, the catalog is indispensable. This research focuses on the video game cataloging, especially the data model. After reviewing previous studies, we discuss the extraction of functional requirements of description based on their characteristics, the development of a data model, and methods for data publication, such as online cataloging, through a case study of the preservation of games owned by Ritsumeikan Center for Game Studies, Ritsumeikan University (RCGS).
