Abstract

This article reviews 3 topics; fake news, consumer health information service at public libraries, and the activity of “Media Doctor Japan”. Media Doctor was launched in 2004 in Australia. It also seeks to increase the completeness of health stories and subsequently, health literacy among journalists and media consumers. Media Doctor Japan was launched in 2007, and we aim to improve health news reporting by promoting evidence-based and balanced information. We discuss healthcare newspapers, Web pages in Japan using 10 items that we think healthcare news should include.
