Abstract

New bibliographic data models such as IFLA Library Reference Model are being adopted and implemented, but the cost and methodology of creating bibliographic data with the models remain subject to debate. This research examines the methodology for utilizing data generated by online communities from the three perspectives of comprehensiveness, granularity, and completeness of records, through a case study of the using Wikidata as an authority of video game works for cataloging. A half of the material of the collection was connected, so we confirmed the effectiveness in terms of cost and external connectivity. On the other hand, the subjects of using the specific dataset and the effectiveness of integration strategies for multiple datasets were suggested.
