Microsoft-provided “PowerPoint Slides of Letters Studied in an Elementary School” was used to teach Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji in integrated elementary Japanese classes. The study built on a previous survey that showed that such PowerPoint slides helped students who had difficulties learning kanji. The usefulness of the slides was verified through students' evaluation of the classes as follows: (1) the majority
of students felt that the tool was "very useful" "useful" (2) half of them used it for self-study; and (3) a few students considered it ³neutral´ in several categories.
