Abstract
Japanese academic writing support (AWS) for international students requires the succession and accumulation of good practices. The present study extracts 10 patterns of good practices adopted by an experienced supporter, and exploratively summarized them in the form of pattern language (PL). The authors examined two patterns Discovery of Writer's True/Deep Intention and Courageous Withdrawal, and presented their contexts, problems, and solutions that form the backbone of the PL. The possibility of using PL in the self-reflection by supporters and in the training for new supporters of AWS is demonstrated.
