This research investigates the efficacy of the Verbo-Tonal Method (VTM) in teaching Vietnamese learners of Japanese the pronunciation of special morae. Results from pronunciation tests indicated that VTM instruction significantly enhanced native speakers' assessments of morae length. Questionnaire surveys revealed that learners' awareness of pronunciation improved with VTM-based instruction. Moreover, follow-up interviews identified "Finger Actions" as the most favored technique during pronunciation instruction. Based on these findings, the use of "Finger Actions" is recommended for teaching the pronunciation of special morae.
