Abstract
This paper examines an integrative approach combining Gagné’s Nine Events of Instruction with AI technologies to enhance Japanese language education. By systematically employing AI-based adaptive tools for real-time feedback, personalized exercises, and automated assessment, we aim to optimize each phase of Gagné’s model, from attention to retention. The study highlights the effectiveness of data-driven interventions while addressing ethical considerations, cost, and the changing role of instructors. We propose potential solutions, including collaborative data infrastructures and strategic teacher training, concluding that AI-infused instructional design holds promise for more effective and scalable Japanese language learning.
