Abstract
This report examines Japanese reading and expression activities for athletes. Graded readers matching learners' levels were used as materials. Based on these, we practiced expression activities twice, following a process of creating a conceptual map, gathering materials, and making a storybook. The familiar themes of cooking and travel boosted students' interest, while photos and illustrations aided understanding. Learners displayed creativity and focus during storybook creation. This approach aligns with flow theory, which emphasizes clear goals, immediate feedback, and a balance between challenge and skill. Addressing translation software usage was identified as a key area for future research.
