Abstract
This study investigated the effectiveness of active learning compared to traditional methods where teachers unilaterally select and provide news topics. By allowing students to select their own current news topics, create scripts, and share these topics in discussions, the activities facilitated active participation and collaborative learning. This approach not only promoted meaningful practice in language skills, such as speaking and listening, but also enhanced classroom dynamics, improved communication, and fostered a positive atmosphere. The findings highlight the value of shifting from teacher-centered to student-centered learning, enabling students to engage more actively and collaborate effectively in their learning process.
