Abstract
This study reports on a training program for community-based Japanese language education supporters. The ARCS model organizes strategies for enhancing learner motivation into four components: Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction. In this program, participants learned about the ARCS model through training itself designed according to the ARCS framework. The method aimed to enhance supporters’ motivation, while content focused on strategies to foster learners’ motivation. Results from participant questionnaires showed increased motivation, suggesting such training may promote sustainability in community-based Japanese language education. Future work should strengthen supporters’ confidence.
