Insect remains dropped by a Japanese long-eared bat in a single night were collected at four o'clock of 31, August, 1978, on the floor of a cottage of the Center of Preservation of Oze District at Katashina-mura, Gunma Pref., Honshu, Japan. The remains consist of 11 fore and 6 hind wings belonging to 7 species of night-flying moths and a fore wing of a neuropterous insect (Table 1) . Complete set of the wing of an insect was seen only one occasion. Only a fore or fore and hind wings of one side of an individual were left in most cases.
From this it is obvious that the bat customary removes the wing of a large insect before begins to devour in a following order: firstly a fore wing of generally the left side, secondly a hind wing of the same side, then a fore and hind wings of the other side.
