Abstract

This paper explains the functions and configurations of a series of modules developed by the authors for assisting teachers in preparing instructional software materials. Teacher skill levels are first divided into three states : 1) application of authoring tools, 2) utilization of controlled languages with restricted functions such as structured BASIC, and 3) using general purpose computer languages. A framework for facilitating software development in relation to these levels in combination is then proposed. The authors emphasize the need to develop interface modules which promote standardization of operator interfaces regardless of skill level or which route the development of the material may take. The effectiveness of these modules was proven by using them in the development of authoring system and instructional game software.
