This study aimed to investigate the direction of attention (internal and external attentions) as well as the difficulty of the based on the eyeblink rates as an indicator, since the conventional indicators were unsatisfactory for the assessment of these items. The problem "Tower of Hanoi" was used as the test task and the following results were obtained : (1)The eyeblink rates became significantly higher during the task to image moving a disk (internal attention) than the task to move it in practice (external attention). (2) In the task as to external attention, the eyeblink rates significantly increased as a rising of the task difficulty. (3) In the task as to internal attention, the eyeblink rates increased significantly as rising the task difficulty. These results suggest that eyeblink is usable as an indicator to assess the difficulty of task, the direction of attention, and also available as an indicator for educational evaluation.
