Abstract

It carried out maneuvering trials of Nippon Maru by the revision of cadets training curriculum since the time of construction. We have gotten different facts from the original maneouvering trials on the maneouvering performance at the ships low speed after renewing the main engines control unit in June, 2015, therefore we report here.

A new crash astern program and automatic disengagement of the engines clutch were deployed by renewing the engines control units. The engines is controlled automatically even if using emergency astern engines, and the risk of stopping the engines is greatly reduced.
