Recently, Japanese physical therapists have been increasingly studying abroad or contributingto developing counties. However, it is easy to imagine COVID-19 will be a considerable barrier to travel around the world in many aspects. Historically, Japanese physical therapists studied in other counties to develop their profession in Japan. The author not only possesses a physical therapist's license in Japan and in the United States, but was also taught and practiced in both countries. It is my pleasure to contribute to the Japanese physical therapy profession to share the experience. I hope the comparison of education and clinical practices will be beneficial for nurturing potential therapists of the future.
