Abstract
The present author of this paper has studied on the secular changes of the barometric gradients and the mean pressure in Japan using the data in theperiod 1880-1933, and obtained the following results.
(1) In the north component of the barometric gradient, there is some, periodical change longer than 50 years at least, and it may have some relations with the changes in the general circulation of the atmosphere.
(2) In the distribution of pressure, the author has found a remarkable periodical change ranging from 22 to 23 years, and he verified its periodicity by the harmonic analysis.
(3) Persistence of the mean air pressure seems rather due to mere chance, while the barometric gradients has a tendency of the persistence.
