A new magnetic gear using permanent magnet has been presented by the author. The design and performance characteristics of magnetic gear have been reported previously. In this report, the generating mechanism of magnetic force in meshing area is described to clarify the operating principle of magnetic gear by experimental meshing model. The meshing area is constructed with intersecting and main contacting zone of tooth profile. As a result, in the intersecting zone, it is clear that the negative magnetic force is small and possible to ignore where the intersecting tooth profile is larger than 8 deg. as in this case.
