Abstract
NixFe1-x/Cu multilayers were prepared on a glass substrate by magnetron sputtering. The dependence of the giant magnetoresistance on the composition and temperature were investigated. When the composition of the magnetic layer was varied, the MR ratio exhibited a peak at x=0.6∼0.7 at 4.2 K and x=0.7∼0.8 at 300 K. The MR ratio for the multilayers with the larger magnetic moment decreased more rapidly than that for the multilayers with the lower magnetic moment with increasing temperature. This result can be explained consistently by the spin fluctuation model proposed by Hasegawa.
