The effects of Sn addition on the magnetic viscosity coefficient Sv of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets (Nd12.1DY2.0Fe78.8Al0.9Sn0.1B6.1) were examined in the temperature range from 300 to 483 K. The relationship between Sv and the temperature variation of the coercive force ΔHcJ/ΔT was studied. This experiment showed that ΔHcJ/ ΔT and α(HcJ)decreased as Sv decreased. Addition of Sn to Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets reduced Sv by about 1/2 at 300 K, and Sv gradually increased with the temperature, in contrast to the tendency in Sn-free Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets. Addition of Sn to Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets was effective in reducing ΔHcJ/ΔT and α(HcJ) because of the marked decrease in Sv at 300 K.
