Abstract
Large Barkhausen discontinuity (LBD) occurs in tensionannealed die-drawn Fe-Si-B amorphous wire, but the voltage pulse induced in the sense coil is smaller than that of the as-quenched wire, owing to the reduced volume. Even if multiple die-drawn wires are used to increase the magnitude of the voltage pulse, LBD occurs separately in each wire, resulting in multiple voltage pulses of small magnitude. However, it is possible to make the LBD of the multiple wires occur simultaneously by attaching amorphous ribbons to the wire ends. As a result, the voltage pulse induced in the sense coil by the LBDs of the multiple wires becomes bigger than that of a single wire. The magnitude increases in proportion to the number of wires. Domain observation at the wires-ribbon junction shows that the ribbons are magnetized by the stray field from the wire ends. It is inferred that the wires and the ribbons have magnetostatic coupling through the stray field, thus making the LBDs of the multiple wires occur simultaneously.
