The soft magnetic properties of Fe-Al-Nb-B alloy ribbons crystallized from an amorphous state were investigated. These alloy ribbons showed high magnetic flux density corresponding to that of Fe-based amorphous alloy ribbons after annealing. Fe79Al4Nb5B12 alloy ribbon showed particularly good soft magnetic properties (Bs=1.46 T, λs=2.0 × 10-6, Pc=15 Wkg-1 (f= 100 kHz, Bm=0.1 T)).
The ribbons were composed of bccFe crystallites in the disordered phase, with a grain diameter of less than 20 nm. It was presumed that most of the Al in the alloy was contained in the bccFe crystallite.
