Magnetic properties of La(Fe0.875Al0.125)13 intermetallic compound have been investigated. The present compound shows a metamagnetic transition from an antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic state by applying external magnetic field. The temperature dependence of the metamagnetic transition field indicates a broad maximum at 160 K. With increasing temperature, triple transitions from the antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic, to antiferromagnetic and finally to paramagnetic state occur in 25 kOe due to the characteristic temperature dependence of the transition field. The magnetic entropy change due to the metamagnetic transition has been estimated by using the Clausius-Clapeyron relation and increases linearly with temperature in low temperatures. This behavior implies that the 3d band structure is changed by the metamagnetic transition.
