Abstract

The magnetic head for Magnetic Field Modulation (MFM) recording on Magneto-optical (MO) disk rubs protective resin film. Therefore, it is required that the protective resin film has good lubrication and surface flatness to reduce the damage of disk and head. In this study, the protective resin film of a UV curable resin which can be formed by only one process has been developed for that purpose. As the result, it has been found that a UV curable resin film consists of mixture rate 60% epoxy novolac acrylate, 40% ethoxylated trimethylol propane triacrylate, 4% polyether modified silicone polymer and 4 % photoinitiator (total mixture rate 108 %) exhibits boundary lubrication of a fixed 0.04 coefficient of kinetic friction over 5 g load.
