We investigated the reliability of cables covered with magnetic ribbons. To simulate the influence of cracks in magnetic ribbons, patterned ribbons (length: X cm) were used to cover the cables. When X equaled the cable length, noise attenuation was 6.8 dB at 120 MHz. As X was decreased to 2 cm, noise attenuation was significantly improved to about 10 dB, which suggests that the resonance of the magnetic ribbon patterns affected noise emission. This fact confirmed that cables covered with magnetic ribbons have high reliability.
