The purposes of wood coating are“protection,”“appearance,”and“functionality. Each wood product requires different coating performance and degree of finished appearance, and coatings and coating process are determined by the requirements of each product. It is important to conduct coating performance tests to confirm that the product meets the performance required for the intended use and environment. This paper describes coating performance tests related to wood coating products, and outlines wood-based substrates and coatings, basic wood coating processes.
