Abstract
Astrocyte (AS), a kind of glial cell, is thought to play an important role in information processing in the brain. AS has metabotropic glutamate receptors, and the application of glutamate elicits the spatio-temporal pattern of Ca2+. AS also shows spontaneous Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i) oscillation. The mechanisms of these phenomena have not yet been elucidated. In the present study, we proposed a Phospholipase C (PLC)δ model that could induce several spatio-temporal patterns. PLCδ is an intracellular enzyme whose concentration is controlled by the transcriptional process. These results suggest that the spatio-temporal pattern of AS [Ca2+]i is modulated by PLC δ.
