Scientific and Technological Information Policy and the Information Activities in China

Abstract

Based on the knowledge which authors obtained through the business tour in China in July of 1983 they introduce scientific and technological information policy and information activities there. The history of tne policy is described along with the economic policy and scientific & technological policy. The new direction of the scientific & technological policy and some problems to be solved in scientific & technological information activities are also described showing the example of China Information Research Institute of Science & Technology which plays a leading role in the information activities. Then scientific and technological information network in China is outlined. The representative nodes in it are Chaina Information Research Institute of Science & Technology, Information Research Institute of Metallurgical Industry Department and Shanghai Information Research Institute of Science & Technology. Each institute is introduced concerning the information activities.
