Abstract
In order to keep up with the rapid circumstance change, for example globalization of our business, we need to expand the role of our IP department and improve the quality of our IP service and are consequently facing the need of the review of our resources allocation. In this circumstance we studied about "methods of an economical search", which achieves the reduction of both patent infringement risk and load in patent search to prevent any patent infringement. We organized the methods to narrow the search result by the machine retrieval and they showed us the possible contraction scale of search result and the probable risk in each method. In this article, we introduce the methods to conduct the patent search that contributes to avoid the patent infringement risks without explosion of the search scope and also point out the function required in searching systems for such "economical search".
