Progress and challenge of open data in Japan

Abstract

"Open data" attracts attention as part of the information disclosure by governments and public institutions. Although the spread of the open data movement in Japan is behind as compared with the Western countries, quality and quantity of data are improved quickly by efforts of governmental agencies and citizens. In this paper, we introduce advanced case in Japan and discuss issues and future view of open data.
