A Step-Up Guide of Oncoplastic Breast-Conserving Surgery Proposed by the JOPBS OPBCS Working Group　- Volume Replacement: Step 1： Abdominal Advancement Flap

Abstract

An abdominal advancement flap (AAF) and a modified AAF are step 1 procedures of OPBCS Volume replacement. An AAF and a modified AAF are volume replacement techniques with little damage to the donor site. We use these flaps to fill the partial mastectomy defect of the inferior or lateral portion of the breast. An AAF and a modified AAF are flaps that pull the abdominal skin up, creating the shape of the inferior portion of the breast by making a neo-inframammary fold. Both procedures are simple techniques and less likely to cause complications such as fat necrosis.
