Classification of Complication for Artificial Breast Reconstruction Proposed by the JOPBS Complications Working Group

Abstract

This paper discussed breast reconstruction after breast cancer surgery, especially the complications of tissue expanders and silicone breast implants. As a result of activities of the working group, the problems extracted were sorted out. It was thought that it was necessary to collect accurate data, and it was also necessary to reduce the burden on those who input data. For the extraction of complications and the evaluation of severity, we devised a modified Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) and Clavien-Dindo (CD) classification for JOPBS. Another goal was to standardize the term for local complications.
