Synthesis of Cholesterol Ester with Lipase in Organic Solvent and the Possibility of Repeated Use of the Recovered Enzyme

Abstract

The lipase (EC 3.1.1.3) was found to be active in various organic solvents on esterification of cholesterol and fatty acid. The recovered lipase could be used again several times for esterification. Its enzymatic activity was much higher in repeated use than in the first use.
