Abstract
Autoxidation of methyl abietate was examined in detail under the following reaction conditions : in an aprotic polar solvent (DMSO or DMF) at 100°C for 28 h and on standing as a neat state at 2535°C for 120 d. In all cases a wide variety of products were obtained altogether, and a comparable study on the distribution of the products under these reaction conditions was made to establish more precise reaction pathways for the formation of these compounds.
