Abstract
6-Hydroxy-1, 4-dimethylcarbazole was found to act as a good hydrogen donor and suppress the oxidation of methyl linoleate in homogeneous solution and aqueous dispersions and also that of soybean phosphatidylcholine liposomal membranes. Its antioxidant activity was colse to that of α-tocopherol, the most active natural antioxidant.
