Abstract

This paper regards the university campus as a workplace and systematizes the student's various activities. Similar to the concept of ABW in offices, there is an increasing demand for activity-based space planning on university campuses. However, there is no research that organizes the overall picture like the office behavior classification shown in our previous research. This situation makes it difficult to get the big picture, which is mainly needed at the planning stage. The lack of a big picture destabilizes important processes such as surveys, behavioral observations, interviews, and user-participatory discussions. This study, 1) collected various student's activities from interview surveys and behavior observations, 2) conducted two grouping experiments to obtain major classification and medium / small classification, and finally, 3) presented a classification table based on the results of hierarchical cluster analysis. From the above, the results of this study show the important material that contributes to the university campus planning by grasping the overall picture of student's various activities as objectively.
