An Analysis on Walkability of Waterway in City

A study on utilization of waterway as open space

Abstract

Waterway is a kind of open space. But, at present time, it is hard to say that it is put to a good use. Accordingly, in this survey, it was examined whether waterways were used as open space under present conditions. Concretely, it was surveyed whether riversides were walkable. The result led that only 40.8% of riversides were walkable in Osaka city and 74.5% in Ibaraki city. And, in this paper, relation between walkability and landuse, obstacles to walk were also analised. Basides some subjects to keep walkability of waterways were considered according the results of the survey.
