Abstract

This paper forms a part of our serial study on the Ishinden-Jinaicho in Mei Prefecture. “Jinaicho” is a general term for moated towns founded by the buddhists of the Jodo-shinshu at the end of the mediecal times. Jinaichoes are seen in the Kinki, Tokai and Hokuriku regions, and reflect regional colors in their town patterns. In the last year’s papers (No.21), I have dealt with the Ishinden and five other Jinaichoes in the Kinki region. And in this paper, I restore the old plans of three Jinaichoes in the Hokuriku region and examine the characteristics of their spatial patterns typologically.
