Abstract

WE USUALLY CONSIDER A SHOPPING DISTRICT AS A PLANNING UNIT. IN SUCH CASE,SPATIAL SCOPE OF SHOPPING DISTRICT IS GIVEN A PRIORI OR GIVEN BY IMPLICIT WAYS. THIS PAPER DEALS WITH A WAY OF IDENTIFICATION OF SHOPPING DISTRICTS BY USING POINT-SAMPLING LAND USE DATA. IT UNABLES US TO EASILY IDENTIFY LOTS OF SHOPPING DISTRICS THROUGH COMPUTER ALGORISM. THE RESULT IS THAT TWO SHOPS (OR SHOPPING DISTRICTS) LOCATED 75 METERS DISTANCE EACH OTHER BELONG TO SAME SCOPE. OTHER RESULT IS THAT LARGE SCOPES TEND TO BE DEVIDED INTO SMOLLER ONES AND NUMBERS OF SMOLL SCOPES TEND TO INCRESE, THROUGH EMPIRICAL STUDY IN TOKYO.
