WE ANALYZED QUANTITATIVELY URBAN STRUCTURE OF TAINAN IN FIVE DIVISIONS OF THE PERIOD FROM THE VIEWPOINTS OF URBAN LAND USE AND ROAD NETWORK THROUGH RECONSTRUCTED CITY MAPS. WE OBSERVED THAT THE URBAN STRUCTURE OF TAINAN WAS DRASTICALLY CHANGED AT THE LAST PHASE OF THE PERIOD, AND THAT FIVE PARTS OF TAINAN WERE SPECIALIZED IN URBAN FUNCTIONSAND DEVELOPMENT.
