Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to clarify the cause origin of the fire after HANSHIN-AWAJI earthquake. The hearing research to the residence around the fire was carried out to find out the mechanism of fire outbreak caused by earthquake-"origins of fire", "burned things", "process". Following things beome clear; (1) The fires related with electricity were concerned with the recover of the power failure, (2) The gas appliance and the oil heater were conspicuous as soon as the earthquake occurred, (3) In burned things, the one which was caught fire from gas is overwhelmingly. So We must think the planning and restorations of life line.
