Abstract
This thesis is about the foothill residential areas of Mount Rokko in Hanshinkan before the World War II. There made trials of creating various types of design of residential areas. This residential area was designed by the concept of landscape conservation. This thesis studies the characteristics of design of residential areas through clarifying the planning process of the suburban residential development before the World War II from the viewpoint of the developments of forestry.
