Abstract
In seaside village, resident's life and road system is closely related and the relation is very important. Until now, transportation characteristics of residents in seaside village can not be understood from Person Trip survey or Road traffic census because of a small number of sample. Therefore the function of road system in those area has been lift untouched for a long time. Dai-2-Shiraito tunnel on route 229 in Shimamaki, Hokkaido collapsed in June, 1997. The road is closed till new tunnel is constructed. This accident caused inconvenient life of residents and decreasing sales at many shops along Route 229. In this study, we analyze the relation between resident's life and function of road system in seaside village though this accident.
